Tuber Magnatum White truffle

Tuber Magnatum, also known as the white truffle, is a highly prized species of truffle found in southern Europe. It is found mainly in the Langhe and Montferrat areas of the Piedmont region in northern Italy and, most famously, in the countryside around the cities of Alba and Asti. The white truffle is a delectable delicacy that grows symbiotically with oak, hazel, poplar, and beech trees and fruits in autumn. It is of a yellowish/gray color and shaped like a potato. The flesh is pale cream or brown with white marbling. The white truffle is highly esteemed and is the most valuable on the market. The white truffle market in Alba is busiest in the months of October and November when the Fiera del Tartufo (truffle fair) takes place. The white truffle is known for its unique and pungent scent, in addition to its flavor. It is a choice edible and is often used in high-end cuisine.
